Catch-up Time!

Salut! We’re definitely in need of a lil’ catch-up sesh… so here’s what I’ve been up to with some news and recent releases of projects.

Firstly, I hope you are all well, and have been enjoying this whirlwind of a year. Let me know in the comments how you’ve been!

For me, my daily grind of the second semester consisted of study, practise, perform, produce, compose, repeat. However, hard work does pay off and I am so thrilled for the holiday break and travel adventures, especially the festive season! #christmassongs #LASTCHRISTMAS

Btw, I freshly updated my YouTube channel and created my Facebook page, so feel free to follow/like/subscribe to me there.

The first of my new projects and tracks is entitled ‘Experiment‘. This explores the ethereal nature of sounds, by experimenting with field recordings from a contact mic and a synth patch. I am looking forward to testing cool recording techniques in future tracks.

Next, in my Sonic Arts Music major, I was able to dive into the world of producing for 360 Virtual Reality media. This involved filming videos with a 360 camera (including out of a car sunroof!), as well as editing, mixing and composing for ambisonic 4-channel, spatial audio. This was a very foreign yet stimulating process, and pushed me to produce and shape my music in a more innovative way. Moreover, I loved spending hours in the recording and mixing studios.

Specifically, my project ‘North-West‘ is an audio-visual sonic experience of driving from the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the Anzac Bridge at dusk. A single moving 360° shot is accompanied by a composition of ambisonic sounds to create a multi-sensory journey, traveling between two bridges. I particularly aimed to achieve a synergetic experience for the spectator in which the spatial audio and virtual image simultaneously generate an interactive journey.

I have shared the audio track on SoundCloud, and the full 360 experience video on YouTube (watch in Google Cardboard on your smartphone device or Google Chrome in HD) so please subscribe and enjoy!

Last but not least is the incredible String instrument addition of my very own Electric Violin (heart eyes).

Thus, expect some experimental sound recordings and possibly videos coming out soon! Any Electric instrument tips would be appreciated 🙂

I wish you a Happy Holidays and joyful New Year with even more opportunities!

‘Til 2018, ciao xx #sydneyandstreet
