FEMME FAIRLIGHT // THE AUDIOVISUAL ALBUM – sydneyandstreet

FEMME FAIRLIGHT is the first feature-album of the Fairlight CMI and Electric Violin by Isabella Loong. Fully composed and recorded on the Fairlight CMI IIx and Peter Vogel’s CMI Pro iPad application, #FEMMEFAIRLIGHT exhibits Loong’s human-machine employment of the Fairlight CMI as inspired by Kate Bush’s production practices. The audiovisual album presents these sonic experiments accompanied by behind the scenes footage, providing insight into studio production practices.

‘Circuit’ is a sonic experiment that features the live sounds of the Fairlight CMI IIx. The Fairlight CMI is supported by the Peter Vogel CMI Pro iPad application, and the Electric Violin with live looping, and acoustic and digital effects. This audiovisual experience investigates the intertwining roles of Fairlight programming, synthesis and improvisation.
